The story of the Olive house…

This Sirince house was uninhabitable when purchased but has been fully restored to its former glory and the 2 cupboards found in the original walls intact have been preserved and replaced in the stairwell of the house. Reconstruction work began in 2004 and finished in 2005.

The downstairs of the house has been left in the natural stone which remained from the original construction but the top floor is traditional wood and lath, plastered and painted white, as it is in all sirince houses.. All the windows were copied from the original windows which were collapsing but enough remained to act as a blue print for the restoration.

Downstairs there is a large double door leading to the cosy stone interıor where a large and

comfortable ‘sedır’( traditional seating area) consists of copious soft cushions and

covers three of the walls. This snug seating arrangement faces the fireplace for warm and comfy winter evenings. The surrounding stone walls keep it cool in summer. After a long walk on streets of historical Ephesus, which is only 15 minutes from your door, you will enjoy this natural coolness..

Dokuz günlük tatil boyunca, Teras Evler en yoğun dönemini yaşadı diyebiliriz.. Toplam 34 kişiyi ağırlamışız.. Aysel abla nın yazın bile bukadar terlemediğini söylemeliyim.. Her şeyin yolunda gitmesi bütün yorgunlukları unutturdu tabiki… Bakın bir misafirimiz ne yazmış..

Şimdi yılbaşı gecesi için kollar sıvandı.. Köydeki pansiyonlar doldu sanıyorum..Hava da müsait olursa güzel bir gece olacak.. Teras Evlerde 4 er kişilik gruplar var.. Sürprizlerimiz olacak her zamanki gibi…

Arşipel, her zamanki gibi en canlı müziği hazırlamış bile… Ama ben sizin yerinizde olsam Üzüm Cafede bir kadeh içmeden bir yere gitmezdim.. Sıtkı bey ve eşi gene dostlarını ağırlamaya hazırlanıyorlar..

Figs of the Fig House Sirince…

A small amount of shade may be found under the large green fig tree in our front garden. I am instructed to eat as many figs as I can because they are ripe and make a mess when they fall, splattering their guts on the stones below. I’ve never had a fresh fig before. They are packaged in a green skin which you peel back from the top to reveal soft white flesh with a blood red center. Omer has gathered a bowl of them and placed them in the refrigerator to chill for our arrival. Magnificent, a perfect treat to wash away the travel dust……Richard Goodrich, summer 2008

Music, filter coffee and a selection of teas are provided to make you feel at home right from the start and we supply our own organic olive oil for you to use in the kitchen. In the summer you can enjoy candlelit dinners under the sky in Terrace Café with unmatched views across the village to the hills beyond. In the winter you will be greeted by a fire and the cottages make an ideal romantic weekend break.
